Bus Teams

The bus teams are at the heart of what we do.

Serving as mobile youth centres, they enable local churches to meet the needs of young people where they are.

Our customised buses currently go out on a weekly basis during the evening to various locations throughout South East Essex. The volunteers on the bus gives the young people a listening ear, support and a safe environment to socialise.

Facilities on the buses include a free coffee bar serving hot chocolate, tea and coffee, play station or Xbox, TV's, videos, prayer room and comfy places to relax and chill out.

We offer full training to every volunteer and they are equipped to deal with most problems and difficult questions. Their role is to meet, befriend and build a positive relationship with young people.

This part of the project has been running for over 15 years and it is a very successful part of the work we do, as it has not only helped the young people who come onto the bus, but it has helped the local community by reducing the local crime rate amongst young people.

We have also been given a great opportunity from Grays Police who have funded the buying and equipping of a bus just for the Thurrock area. For more information about this exciting opportunity click Thurrock Bus

For Churches…

It takes about 6 months to get a team together, train them and sort out locations etc.  Your church needs to find 12-15 people to form a team, as we need at least 8 members every week to enable the bus to go out. The more team members, the better rota you can have.

We would also look to you to raise the finances needed to run the team but we can help you to do this.

Why not consider working with other local churches as this often helps with providing team members and the finance.

Contact the office team@barnbus.org.uk for a copy of our Church Pack that gives more information about starting a bus team.

          For Individuals…

We are always looking for people to join our current bus teams, please get in touch if you would like to be involved. Please contact the office for a team member’s pack.

If you would like to see the bus in action to allow you to know if you want to become a team member then we can arrange for you to visit a bus team.

Why not consider becoming one of our bus drivers.
